Lukonge Achilees

May 8, 2023 12:58:12 PM

EXTENDED REVIEW from USA by CecilRhodes The Dream From Dust: A Memoir of Triumph Against all odds "No matter how difficult life may be, you can still change your life for the better because dreams can be built from dust and transformed into reality" The Dream from Dust is a memoir of Lukonge Achilees who was born and raised in poverty. It is a very personal account in which he shares the challenges he encountered while growing up. He shares how his parents experienced the atrocities of war and how these civil wars within his country shaped his life. He recounts how extreme poverty affected his childhood and how their financial situation made his dream of studying in university almost impossible. However, despite all odds, the author was able to graduate and land a job as a social worker in the Pelletier Teenage Mother’s Foundation where he was able to create a lasting impact to the organization through the trainings that he designed. The memoir also gives you a glimpse of Lukonge’s personal life, such as his relationship with his family, friends and how these bonds have shaped him to be the person that he is today. When I was reading the book, I could tell the amount of effort that the author has placed into writing the story. It is a very personal account of his life that even included his most intimate moments which is an act that requires a lot of bravery. I particularly like that he shared his struggles with his studies. He was just an average student, that it seemed his dream of pursuing further studies in a university was almost impossible. He also candidly revealed how his struggles didn’t end when he was finally accepted into a university. Reading about the obstacles that he experienced while he was still studying, provides an insight into the many challenges that students from a less fortunate background would face. I also appreciate that he admitted how these challenges almost led him to give up on his dreams because it shows that striving for a better life isn’t an easy road, especially for someone living in poverty. Another aspect that makes the book unique is that it isn’t just a memoir, it also has a collection of motivational and inspirational advice that is grounded in religion. Most memoirs generally just focus on the author’s life and it is up to the reader to discover the hidden gems on what motivated the author to transform into the person that they are. However, in The Dream from Dust, these lessons are listed out for the reader. The author’s background in history and the amount of research placed in writing the story is also evident. Lukonge Achilees provides a rich historical account of the civil wars in the country. It is incredibly helpful because it allows the reader to understand how these events shaped his life especially if they are not familliar with the country’s history. After reading The Dream from Dust, the effort that the author has placed to share his story with the world is clear Overall, The Dream from Dust is a moving memoir of an individual who overcame the hardships of life and it is always touching to read about a person breaking free from the cycle of poverty. Though this book isn’t for me, it may be helpful for those who are experiencing similar circumstances as the memoir can motivate them to overcome their ordeals. This story is a reminder that your current situation does not define you.

Lukonge Achilees

May 8, 2023 12:38:47 PM

EXTENDED #REVIEW from Tabby reviewed from United States The Dream From Dust: A Memoir of Triumph Against all odds “Happiness is not the absence of problems, but the ability to deal with them” The Dream from Dust recounts Achilees' life. Through the many challenges of famine, poverty, disease, alcoholism and war, he emphasises the value of pursuing your dream and always being grateful for what you have and the people around you. Serving as one of my first insights into life in Uganda, this story touched my heart and reminded me to never take life for granted. We progress through the story in chronological order, beginning with the Uganda-Tanzania war. As someone who has never been to Africa, it was eye-opening to read a first-person perspective on life there. From the history of Uganda to the challenges faced by people there, the author provides a dive into Ugandan culture. This alone I feel already makes this book worth the read. It is not often you get such a deep view into another culture. The stories shared by the author include his family life, school life, and experience doing social work. I loved reading through his stories – some left me sorrowful, others angry. Many explore the multifacetedness of people. Additionally, the fiction-like descriptions helped me immerse into the story – it was easy to feel for the author and others. Through these stories, the themes of always fighting for your dreams and being grateful are hammered home. That being said, the matters covered in this book are heavy and may not be suitable for everyone. Topics include the aforementioned famine, poverty, disease, alcoholism and war, as well as HIV/AIDS, trauma, and physical and verbal abuse. With how deeply the author explores most of these topics, I would not recommend if you're to be affected.

Booknet readers and authors for June 1st, 2023 the English Version is being taken down so I will not be promoting with Booknet anymore since they are going to be using Spanish Version more since it is popular. I don't speak Spanish and I am not willing to translate my books to keep with a platform. So, I will be removing anything involving Booknet links and Promotions on my part. I hope the owner of this site sees this. It will not affect those with Spanish Books. Have an awesome day!

I began writing erotic books some 40 years ago, Wrote 10 stories, but alas, there was not even a whisper of ebooks back then, I even did illustrations for each story, and that was as far as I went, …..until around10 years ago after ‘d retire and got fed u with playing oc games, I looked into indie publishing. And so, I began writing, produced 4 stories and published my first books. More soon followed until today when my writing book total reached 76 books published, including one non erotic historical. Last yeasr I decided to use the drawings I’d done so long ago, I’d lost the accompanying stories in the meantime, so I wrote three books around each set of drawings, producing illustrated erotica. I plan to set up my own site to author sell these books since I can’t put them on any existing ebook sales platforms, so keep an eye out folks for their release later this year.

Karen S. Cole

March 1, 2023 2:02:47 PM

Karen S. Cole has been working on and off about The Rainbow Horizon for at least ten years. It is not the most well written of books, and was never meant to be anything other than a unique kind of thoughtful fluff, running around like a headless chicken, bombastically declaring the nature of all things political as something only worth lampooning and straightening out. The end result is romance combined with friendship, in the little mythical town of Rama, Washington. If you can't see the contents of this book, you're not willing to take things humorously. If you can, you will find a long version of a simple but clever jest, the kind with a punch line that gets you to think. Reflect upon this in terms of the joke, "One day, a rabbi, a priest and a minister walk into a bar - hitting their heads, they all fall down." Plays on words, running gags, background stories that have nothing to do with the book's overall plot - this book is loaded with that sort of thing. I could stand to do more work on it, then I'd feel happier. But it already reads like a straightforward dream about people, one where each person has to decide how to drift subconsciously into the lives of their own making and eventual fulfillment. Well, enough farting around; if you're here only to kill time, read this book and get a laugh out of it!

Dead Man's Witness is available now! Lored finally has enough evidence to clear the herb woman, but can his claims absolve Rue of the charges of murder? "I really love Freya’s writing. It's both poetic and smooth, and never seems overblown or too wordy. Very professional. I also love the pacing. I never became bored. I jumped into the tale at book 10 and I never once felt disjointed or confused." Chris S If you enjoy novels set in other worlds such as Middle Earth and Osten Ard, you will love The Kaerling series!

W.D. Kilpack III

January 24, 2023 1:24:22 PM

Kilpack Wins Third Firebird Book Award Speak Up Talk Radio announced the winners of the most recent International Firebird Book Awards. Amongst the winners was Utah author W.D. Kilpack III for his fantasy novel, Demon Seed: Book Three of New Blood, in the Fantasy category. Demon Seed is the third of the eight-book New Blood Saga, which centers around Natharr, the Guardian of Maarihk. He is one of a long line of protectors dating back to the Firstborn Age, before the Aa Conquest. Natharr's is an ancient role, rooted in his Firstblood, giving him Sight to see what will come to pass, deciding what is unavoidable and what is not. In Demon Seed, Natharr and Ellis the Elder learn that, despite growing power of the forces of chaos, there is a glimmer of hope because there are also forces of order in play. It is made plain when he and his comrades from the Order of Light escape the faceless realm and Natharr's Sight is released. It reveals just how strongly the world needs the Guardian of Maarihk and the return of the legendary Knights of Ril to the land where Mankind was created. Racing for home unwittingly leads to unearthing an ancient force created by the Olde Gods, believed lost aeons past. Authors and publishers from around the world submitted their work to the International Firebird Book Awards. Two judges from a select panel of 25 judges read each book in its entirety, and independently score each entry. All judges commit to a set of standardized criteria that evaluates the quality of the writing as well as production aspects. Only entries with the highest of scores are awarded the coveted Firebird. This is the third award Kilpack has received for Demon Seed. The first was when it was named Editor's Choice by BooksShelf.com, the second when it was a finalist in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy category of the Online Book Club's 2022 Book of the Year Competition. Both Crown Prince (book one) and Order of Light (book two) have also received three awards to date. Kilpack's recently published science-fiction novella, Pale Face, received special recognition from the L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest. According to RedHeadedBookLover.com, Demon Seed is "thrilling and fast-paced ... [a] brilliant tale that is poignant, sensational, and captivating ... where the stakes are as high as ever and the story will enthrall, captivate and excite ... full of twists that will keep you on edge from beginning to end! Demon Seed is an incredibly suspenseful novel ... a wonderful fantasy tale that will keep you hooked!" According to OnlineBookClub.org, "I love the values taught in [Demon Seed, such as] loyalty [and] the true meaning of love! Events in the story come to life! Demon Seed is well recommended to lovers of adventure and suspense ... the story will keep [you] till the very end!" Sinister Soup podcast co-founder, Clay Vermulm, "Bill [Kilpack] is a wonderful man who works extremely hard on his craft. Kilpack delivers a stunning blow to the belief that Indie-Fantasy is worth any less that its salt [with] well-crafted epic[s] with unique plot mechanisms, well-developed and believable characters, and a world grounded in the visceral and the real." Author and screenwriter Jeff Bailey said that Kilpack "is an active author of novels, TV screenwriter, producer, and partner in a movie production company. I consider him to be one of the new breed of fast rising influencers in the publishing, television, and movie industries." In a prepared statement, Patricia J. Rullo, founder of the Firebird Book Awards, said, "Our judging panel grew again and includes a diverse group who represent a cross-section of ages, cultural heritage, race, religion, gender, and experience. At Speak Up Talk Radio, the mission is to offer authors a welcome place to promote themselves and their books via book awards, podcast awards, radio interviews, audiobook production, voiceover marketing tools, and podcasting services."
