“Kitten, I am the devil, and you do not compare.” Thorne laughed. His red eyes reflected the neon lights surrounding them.
A shiver ran down her spine. There was something off about those eyes. They looked too real. They had to be very expensive contacts.
“And how are you the devil?” Katya asked.
“I can make you fall.”
She smiled. What a flirt. She was enjoying this, though. “Is that a threat?”
His smirk dissolved and he brushed the barest kiss against the corner of her lips. Even this sent an ache down to the junction of her thighs.
“Only a warning. You are too innocent for this place.”
The seriousness in his tone surprised her. Damn it, was he on to her? But drug dealers and traffickers didn’t usually issue warnings. Katya wondered if he was trying to be kind to the out-of-towner and keep her out of danger, or if there was something here worth hiding even from potential new customers. Should she still play her part?
“Then why are you here? Are you guilty of something?” She brushed her index finger against his lip. Soft to the touch, yet firm as only a male could be. Even with his warning, she wanted to kiss him properly.
He gave her a half-lidded look. “I’m looking for something.” He nipped at her finger with his teeth.
An electric thrill followed the faint graze against her skin. “What are you looking for?”
He must have seen the desire in her eyes because a smirk spread across his face and he leaned in.
“A taste of something wonderful,” he whispered against her lips. He drew her in.
