Description

As a psychology professor at a university in London, Bradley rarely sees an easy day. Especially since he can never tell the difference between the living and the dead. He has always been able to see lost souls, but only for a brief moment. Lately, those souls haven’t been disappearing as fast; it’s as if they now know he can see them. Things gradually become unsettling as the unseen souls start to appear in his dreams and attempt to keep him there, even if it means they become violent. Charlotte is a new professor with a dark secret and kind heart. Both she and Bradley must find a way to stop the dead from crossing over into the world of the living. But, are they willing to face their repressed memories in order to save their sanity? All the while Simon, a clairvoyant who gets caught in a crossfire of hunger and greed due to his being possessed by Umbra, a dark entity, must try to resist succumbing to the shadow inside him before it consumes the souls of the living and the dead within him.

Excerpt

“What I don’t understand, Dr. Forester, is why would you go from calling me Professor Elm to Bradley and on top of that you insult my behavior in the worst way possible. Now I will definitely make sure to never ignore you, just to avoid being insulted," he said as he stood in front of his superior, who had a skeptical look on his face. “I’m being serious.” “I can never quite get if you’re being sarcastic or not.” “How upsetting.” Bradley shrugged. “...” “It’s fine, doctor, you don’t have to try and understand my tone all the time,” Bradley answered the confused Dr. Forester. “Quite. Anyway, how many students do you have in your class?” “Too many.” Bradley quickly answered. “Bradley.” He said with a stern voice. “I wanted to ask if you could be somewhat of a mentor to a newcomer.” “No sir, then I would have one plus too many students and I have no interest in teaching another set of eyes. Thank you for asking though, it is well appreciated,” he said while turning on his heels to get to his class. “Wrong answer, Bradley,” Dr. Forester gruffly said. “Then why would you ask in the first place if my opinion has no meaning?” he whined.
