Description

The sequel to Chrome Pink. Dana Windley is tired of dating jerks. When “Agent Sexy,” SBI Agent Jake Monroe returns to Leeward, Dana is determined to get her man, but between the Leeward Beauty Pageant, helping improve Malcolm Bryant’s image and saving her dating club, Cupid’s Zone, when does a woman have time for romance. Jake doesn’t have time for anything but work. If he did, Dana would be at the top of his to-do list. Forced to take vacation, Jake uses this time to prove Malcolm is taking over the darker side of the Bryant family business. Everything goes back to a twenty-year old cold case and a missing Mexican girl. While Dana Windley channels her vast energy into an array of jobs and projects to support her community and her budding own business, she can't ignore the strong attraction she has to Agent Monroe. As he digs deeper into the Bryant family business, an old cold case heats up and so does his romance with Dana. They find themselves in the middle of a dark web of secrets and lies. Can they untangle the truth before the local pageant is derailed and sex traffickers target their beauty contestants?

I grew up in Los Angeles and still live there today, so I certainly know the city well enough to make it the main backdrop for my three novels, The Poe Consequence, You Say Goodbye, and In Lieu of Flowers. Having started my creative writing journey as a poet during my high school years, I eventually branched out as a song lyricist with limited professional success until awareness that I wanted to write a story suddenly washed over me like an invisible waterfall. Working through the number of years and hundreds of hours necessitated by my first two novels while working full time in the landscape industry presented a tremendous challenge, but through the maze of difficulty came the rays of achievement. In Lieu of Flowers, my third, novel, is the first I wrote after calling it a career which certainly aided the beginning to end timeframe. Whether readers of my books enjoy them or not, to borrow a sports analogy, I left it all out on the field with each one.
