In a peaceful suburban town outside Minneapolis, life is simple. The only thing that matters in RiverCreek is whether the high school varsity hockey team will finally win a state title after a two-decade dry period. Cory Dubois, the team’s second-best scorer and leader in goal assists, has dreams of one day leaving RiverCreek to become a doctor.
While Cory keeps busy hanging out with his best friend, he plays aggressively in the rink, battling one opponent after the other with his teammates. When Cory is asked to show a new girl around school, she quickly captures his attention. Tara Rose, a beautiful senior, has reluctantly moved to RiverCreek. After they begin dating, the hockey team finally wins its first state title in years. When rivalries from within the team extend beyond the rink, two innocent young people pay the ultimate price, teaching Cory, Tara, and others that acting reckless can carry a heavy burden. But will Cory and Tara ever escape RiverCreek and find their happily-ever-after?

A very slow start to begin this story which is to be expected with romance. The whirlwind of what happens does grip you in though. Jason is an excellent storyteller. It grabs your attention right away when you get to the good parts. Some of the scenes will literally make you grip tightly and yes, their is a few sad also rough patches.
